Scottsdale, located in Maricopa County, Arizona, is a vibrant and progressive city that is a premier destination for residents, visitors, and businesses alike. It is no longer a bedroom community or suburb of Phoenix, as it has grown into its own entity with a bustling business district and exclusive shopping and luxury. Scottsdale is home to the 30th largest mall in the country, Scottsdale Fashion Square, which offers an Old Town Scottsdale lifestyle with approximately 2 million square feet of luxury retail space. The downtown trolley runs through downtown Scottsdale, and the neighborhood trolley runs from downtown Scottsdale to the neighborhoods of South Scottsdale, connecting to the city of Tempe's own free public circulator, Tempe Orbit on Roosevelt and Scottsdale Road.
Notable regional hubs include Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter in North Scottsdale, and Scottsdale Fashion Square in downtown Scottsdale, a major destination for high-end retailers. Scottsdale is also home to several dog parks, including one of the most impressive in the country, Scottsdale's Chaparral Dog Park. This park separates active and passive dogs so everyone can enjoy the fresh air and exercise. The city also hosts the annual month-long event, the Scottsdale Jaycees Parada del Sol.
The city is home to several art districts, including the largest and most diverse collection of styles and genres in the Main Street Arts District, the most contemporary Marshall Way Arts District, and the most touristy and Western-themed Old Town District. The latter is home to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. In 1999, a second campus was opened at Scottsdale Airpark that allowed it to serve the business community and north of Scottsdale.
